Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, will, on May 13 and 14, commission Ibadan Golf Club’s (IGC) new ultra-modern administrative building and modernised Dapo Falase Bar, as well as the new Ola Ibironke VIP Lounge fitted with state of the art facilities.

These facilities, donated by a golfer, Abiodun Olatunji (SAN) to IGC, is valued at N100 million. It is the biggest infrastructure in Nigeria’s golfing circle to be donated by an individual, according to IGC Captain, Tunji Oladosu.

The commissioning, which is expected to be graced by an assemblage of crème de la crème of the society, will also feature a Pro-Am golf tournament.

According to the commissioning committee headed by a former captain of the club, Yomi Salami, respected royal fathers and distinguished personalities in the golfing family in Nigeria will grace the event.

The committee said a commemorative tournament would begin on May 11 with caddies, while professionals will take to the course on May 12, with amateur golfers strutting their stuff on May 13 and 14 .

Recall that the newly built administrative building project was initiated by the late captain of IGC, Ola Ibironke, who died on September 12, 2021 within the IGC arena after a training session, hence the newly established VIP Lounge fitted with state of the art facilities was named after him.
