MFM downs FC IfeanyiUbah, Enyimba dismisses Plateau United

Fresh from their exploits with the Super Eagles in France, the duo of Sikiru Olatunbosun and Stephen Odey were on hand yesterday to steer their club, MFM to winning ways after recent misadventures on the road and even at home.

Playing against high-riding FC IfeanyiUbah, who have been disrupting the existing order on the league table, the Agege-based MFM worked their socks off to win the game with a 19th minute goal scored by Adebayo Waheed off an assist from Monsuru Bashiru.

The win takes MFM returned to the second position on the log on 37 points and also ended FC IfeanyiUbah’s eight-game unbeaten run.League leaders, Plateau United could not extend the gap between them and MFM when they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat by Enyimba at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

Enyimba’ winner was scored in the 70th minute by Andrew Abalogu, who was later stretchered out due to injury close to the end of the game.Plateau maintain top spot on the log with 39 points, two points above second-placed MFM, while Enyimba climbed to the fifth position on 34 points.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 2-1 with Ismail Gbabayan and Festus Umanah scoring the goals for the home team, while Efe Yarhere pulled a goal back for El-kanemi.

Struggling Shooting Stars managed a1-0 defeat of Sunshine Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, to buy some peace for their coach, Fatai Amao, Nasarawa United forced Enugu Rangers to a 1-1 draw.

Two goals by Nyima Nwangwa in the 36th and 49th minutes gave Kano Pillars a 2-1 defeat of Lobi Stars, whose goals was score Uchenna Eze.
Elsewhere, Katsina United beat visiting Abia Warriors 1-0, Gombe lost 2-0 away to bottom team Remo Stars and ABS, playing at home, beat Niger Tornadoes 2-1.
