‘More of Neymar Jr.’s rivalry is needed to engage our youths’

Thrilled by the recently concluded Red Bull Neymar Jr Five-A-Side football contest in Lagos, the Chairman of Blaugrana Group International and licensee of FCBESCOLA Soccer School in Lagos, Mr. Leslie Oghomienor has hailed the competitiveness of the tournament.

The Neymar Jr competition, which witnessed 30 days competitive football across five cities with over 602 teams and 4214 participants and in 10 different locations, was won by De Rock FC from Port Harcourt, who defeated Victorious In Christ FC 2-1 at the GET Arena, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to Oghomienor, all the teams and players in the championship are already looking forward to the next year’s edition. He added: “We need more of this kind of project to positively engage our young people in order to save our future, and better our society. The outing was impressive and mind blowing with lots of revelations.

“This affirms that truly the nation is endowed with a wealth of incredible talents. All we need to do is a little more work, and we will conquer the world in the shortest possible time’”

The sponsor of the event represented by the Red Bull Marketing Manager, Mr. William Lane, said: “We cannot wait for the next edition in 2018. We want to be a part of Nigeria’s success story.”

First Vice President, Nigeria Football Federation, Seyi Akinwunmi, who was present at the fiesta, applauded the sponsor and coordinators of the project and appealed to other corporate bodies and individuals to be involved in developing football talents and other forms of youth empowerment.

The Chief Operating Officer, Five Sports Nigeria and Coordinator of the competition in Nigeria, Mr. Adebayo Akande said the tournament that witnessed individual talents in 23 games played and 75 goals scored, was an exhibition of remarkable and valuable skills.

Also speaking in the tournament, one of the special guests and Senior Executive/Vice President, RusselSmith, Mr. Kayode Adeleke said the organisation and coordination of the project was an impressive one that will have a positive impact on the society.
