ND Western, an indigenous oil and gas company, reaffirmed its support in enabling communities through its sponsorship of the 20th edition of Egbert Imomoh’s Annual Classic Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament, a hallmark event in the region’s sporting calendar, unfolded from February 23rd to 25th, 2024, at the prestigious Ogunu Golf Resort in Warri, Delta State.

As a longstanding advocate for community engagement and sporting excellence, ND Western’s participation represents a commitment to nurturing local talent and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among golf enthusiasts. Hosted by Egbert Imomoh, a distinguished golf enthusiast and former chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, as well as the former deputy managing director of Shell, the tournament drew over 200 golfers from across the nation. Esteemed dignitaries, including the Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Sunday Okpurhe, and Uduaka 1, Chief Chris Odiete, were also in attendance.

Mr. Eberechukwu Oji, CEO of ND Western and Engr. Tony Attah, Managing Director/CEO, Renaissance African Energy Company also made appearances at the golf tournament.

Expressing his satisfaction with ND Western’s participation at the Warri Annual Classic Golf Tournament and commenting on Egbert Imomoh’s unwavering dedication to promoting the sport in Nigeria, the Chief Executive Officer of ND Western, Mr. Eberechukwu Oji stated. “We are privileged to be part of this historic event and to support Egbert Imomoh’s endeavors to cultivate golf in Nigeria. ND Western leads in the oil and gas sector and upholds its role as a conscientious corporate citizen committed to community welfare and development. We believe golf is more than a sport; it fosters social inclusion, empowerment, and peace-building.”

He further reiterated ND Western’s overarching vision to not only excel in the energy sector but also to serve as a catalyst for positive change and social upliftment in the communities where it operates.

Featuring a range of competitive categories- men, women and caddies. The event reached its peak with a gala dinner and prize-giving ceremony where awards were bestowed upon the winners in each category, and overall best player (male and female).

One of the tournament’s standout moments was the unveiling ceremony for the newly installed hole 17 tee box and hole 18 lights, generously donated by ND Western as part of its ongoing commitment to community development and sports infrastructure enhancement in the Niger Delta region. These additions promise to elevate the playing experience for golfers and further solidify Ogunu Golf Resort’s status as a premier destination for golf enthusiasts.
