The Nigeria Golf Federation [NGF] in a rare collaboration with Abuja printing giants, Marvelous Mike Press, will soon come out with a historic golf book titled, Who is Who in Nigeria Golf.

The book, which will be set for launch with a Pro-Am Golf tournament in February 2021, offers one giant leap into golfing history since the game was first played at the Sapele Golf Club in the present-day Delta State in 1897. It also eulogises those individuals who worked tirelessly for its growth.

The book will be an all colour 500-page package, which will feature profiles of 250 Nigerian golfers, who over the years have rendered selfless service to ensure rapid growth of the game in Nigeria. It is through sheer effort of these people that over three million Nigerians now play the game.

Who is Who in Nigeria Golf, which is packaged by the nation’s foremost golf writer, Tony Akhigbe, is expected to enjoy wide circulation among golfers in Nigeria and abroad. Especially, the publishers believe copies of the book shall adorn shelves of the world bodies ruling golf, that is, the Ancient and Modern St. Andrews in Scotland and the United States Golf Association and those of major golf clubs across the globe.

The introduction of the book is written by the President of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, while the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi, wrote the Foreword.

“This is a big moment for the game of golf in Nigeria,” Oyinlola said. “A book that will serve as a Hall of Fame to golfers is most welcome. It shows those who are helping our golf grow are never forgotten,” he added.
