• NFF keeps ticket manipulators at bay
• Eagles record full house as Amavubi train on Godswill Akpabio Stadium pitch
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has declared war on ticket manipulators, saying that it has adopted a system that will ensure that only genuine ticket holders are allowed into the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday.
The Super Eagles will host the Amavubi of Rwanda in a 2026 World Cup Group C qualifier at the stadium on Saturday.
Yesterday, the NFF announced that fans will pay N3,000 to access the VIP stand and N1,000 for the popular stand to watch the game.
It said that the tickets will go on sale tomorrow morning at designated centres within Uyo metropolis.
NFF’s Director of Marketing and Sponsorship, Alizor Chuks, yesterday, said: “It is important to let the general public know that the NFF Security Committee has declared total war on all ticket manipulators this time. Ticket fakers and racketeers will be dealt with.
“All tickets will be scanned at the gates. All intending spectators are advised to buy their tickets from accredited ticket sellers. Fake ticket sellers or holders will be arrested and prosecuted.”
Meanwhile, the Amavubi contingent, who arrived in Uyo at 5.28 pm on Tuesday, trained at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium by 4.00 p.m. yesterday.
The delegation was led by the newly-elected president of the Federation Rwandaise de Football Association (FERWAFA), Fabrice Shema Agoga.
According to the NFF, the contingent was well-received by a team from the local organising committee, and is staying at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo.
Shortly after the Amavubi’s training session, the Super Eagles, now with the full complement of players, took to the pitch by 6.00 p.m.
The Nigerian camp at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot-Ekpene, was further enlarged with the arrivals of Africa Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, and new Panathinaikos of Greece forward Cyriel Dessers. Both arrived in Uyo yesterday morning.
The remaining players, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, and Raphael Onyedika
Chrisantus Uche and Victor Osimhen arrived a few hours later and joined their mates in the evening’s training session.
