Nigeria caretaker coach Salisu Yusuf has said he will not consider another post with the Super Eagles and only wants the top job on a permanent basis.

“I am through with assisting any coach because I believe I can do the job now after assisting (Stephen) Keshi, (Sunday) Oliseh and (Samson) Siasia,” said the 54-year-old.

“I have a good idea of the country’s players both at home and abroad and I believe with a group of willing, experienced players and youngsters we can go on to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.”

Yusuf, a former midfielder for Maiduguri’s El-Kanemi Warriors and Ranchers Bees in Kaduna, was assistant coach over the last year and also helped Siasia twice between 2010 and 2011.

Last month, he was in temporary charge for two friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg but is staking a claim for a full-time post before qualifying matches begin for the World Cup finals in Russia.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly in talks with three Serbian coaches for the vacant position.

Nigeria football has been rocked with the deaths of both Keshi and former coach Shuaibu Amodu within days of each other last week.
