The interim board of the Nigerian National League (NNL) is poised for a battle with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the federation’s alleged non-implementation of the agreements entered by the bodies before the commencement of the league.

The NNL is the second tier league of Nigeria’s club football.

According to a statement signed by its Media/Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Zira, the interim board said, “following the conclusion of the first round of the NNL, the interim executive board of the club owners have observed with displeasure the non-implementation of the decision reached at the league’s 2016 Annual Congress, held on the…. February 2016, at Top Rank Galaxy Hotel,  Abuja, where a compromised New Governance Structure was agreed with three NFF representatives.

“It was agreed that the new structured Boards with their members will be put in place before the start of the 2015/16 league season. That was not done and the clubs were impressed upon to commence the season with a firm assurance that it will be done before the mid-season break.
