The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will end this weekend, with Warri Wolves FC and others in tight race to escape the drop. Warri Wolves will host Abia Warriors at Ozoro in a match that will be played indoor following an order by the league management.
The absence of the home fans notwithstanding, Chairman of Delta Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwori, believes Warri Wolves have the ability to deliver.
“The players and their coaches know that anything short of victory might not be good for us,” Oborevwori told The Guardian. “I believe in them, and our prayer is for them to get the result we need.”
Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved free entry for fans attending Rivers United’s final match.
The Pride of Rivers will face Katsina United in a decisive Matchday 38 clash on Sunday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 PM.
Through the Ministry of Sports, Governor Fubara directed that stadium gates be thrown open to allow supporters across the state to witness what could be a historic day for Rivers United.
To further ease transportation, free shuttle buses will operate from designated pickup points across Port Harcourt beginning at 12:30 PM, with departures to the stadium set for 2:30 PM.
The designated pickup locations include U.S.T Convocation Arena, UNIPORT Market Square, Mile 3 by Ikoku Flyover, Mile 1 by Education Bus Stop, Sharks Stadium (two buses), Yakubu Gowon Stadium (two buses), Rumuomasi Market Junction, and Rumuola by Aba Roundabout.
Rivers United enter the final game with a chance to clinch the NPFL title. Victory over Katsina United, combined with a favorable result for Ikorodu City in Lagos, would crown the Port Harcourt-based side champions of Nigeria.
