Onos Oborevwori inspects Warri City Stadium, commends quality of work

The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Honourable Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori, has commended the pace and quality of work at the Warri City Stadium, currently undergoing remodelling by the Delta State Government.

Oborevwori made the remarks on Tuesday during an inspection tour of the facility, expressing satisfaction with the standard of work and optimism that the project would contribute significantly to sports development in the state.

Speaking at the stadium, he said the ongoing remodelling, when completed, would enhance talent development and boost participation in sports across Delta State.

“I am impressed with the quality of work and the level of progress recorded so far. I am confident that the end result will greatly support the development of sports talents and encourage wider participation across the state,” he said.

Engineer James Titus, representing the contracting firm, Peculiar Consult, disclosed that construction activities were progressing steadily, assuring that the project would be completed within schedule.

“We are working round the clock to ensure that the stadium is completed on time and in line with the required standards,” Titus said.

Addressing journalists after the inspection, Oborevwori praised the contractors for their professionalism and expressed confidence that the project would be delivered as planned.

“The quality of work I have seen here in Warri gives me confidence that this stadium will be delivered to standard and within the stipulated timeframe,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the development, maintenance, and protection of sports infrastructure across Delta State, stressing that modern and functional facilities are critical to talent discovery and the sustained growth of sports.

Officials who accompanied the Sports Commission chairman on the tour included Mr. Oghale Ofremu, member representing Delta South at the Commission; Mr. Festus Ohwojero, former Director-General of the Delta State Sports Commission; Miss Emuobo Egalase, Director-General of the Commission; Mr. Paul Omamomo Ojo, Senior Special Adviser on Sports; Mr. Joe Eyimofe; Mr. Esosa Igbinoba, Special Assistants to the Executive Chairman; Mrs. Franca Okonmah (DIPR); and Mrs. Mary Enarevba, Director of Organisation, Delta State Sports Commission.
