Teenage midfielder Jonathan James Naisa continued to enhance his growing reputation in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after finding the net in Wikki Tourists’ 2-1 defeat to Bendel Insurance on Sunday.

The highly-rated youngster was on target as Wikki Tourists fought back from an early setback at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, although his effort was ultimately not enough to prevent the visitors from claiming all three points.

Bendel Insurance silenced the home crowd with an early goal inside the opening minutes, putting Wikki Tourists under immediate pressure. The hosts, however, responded positively and gradually worked their way back into the contest.

Their persistence paid off in the 24th minute when Naisa produced a composed finish to restore parity. The teenager, who is capable of operating both as a forward and attacking midfielder, displayed maturity beyond his years as he calmly converted to bring his side level.

The goal added to an increasingly impressive campaign for the youngster, who has continued to attract attention with his performances and growing influence within the Wikki Tourists squad.

Both teams remained evenly matched for the remainder of the first half, battling intensely for control of midfield as the contest developed into a tightly fought encounter.

Bendel Insurance regained the lead shortly after the restart when Efe Ubiomo struck in the 51st minute. The visitors then defended resolutely to preserve their advantage despite sustained pressure from the hosts.

Wikki Tourists pushed forward in search of another equaliser, but Bendel Insurance held firm to secure a valuable away victory.

Despite the defeat, Naisa once again emerged as one of the game’s standout performers.

Born on December 28, 2006, the teenager has become one of the most exciting young prospects in the NPFL, with his technical ability, composure and versatility earning increasing recognition.
