NRFF CMB South-West Rugby League resumes today
Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has revealed that the second round of matches of the CMB Building Maintenance & Investment Company Limited sponsored South West League will begin today at the National Stadium’s NIS pitch, Lagos.
The newly appointed NRFF Technical Director, Ntiense Williams assured that the last three remaining sets of matches promise to be explosive based on a lot of technical and tactical improvements in the just concluded referees course hosted in Lagos and facilitated by two top Zimbabwean Rugby Union referees’ educators.
The successful hosting of this year’s Lagos Independence Rugby Sevens Tournament three weekends ago, he said, was a reflection on the quality of training received in the Rugby course.
He revealed that four matches will be played at the NIS on Saturday from 10:00 a.m., with the first game pitching bottom Division two sides, Panthers RFC and second placed Eco II RFC. It will be followed by a game featuring Lagos Dragons against table toppers, Gosar RFC at 12 noon.
“There will also be an explosive encounter between Premier division teams, as second placed Racing RFC will hope to give a big challenge to
Nigeria Police RFC, who are sitting at number three on the table. The last match will see table leaders, Cowrie RFC take on Lagos RFC, who are bottom on the log and still searching for their first win this season.
“Rugby fans are enjoined to turn out en masse to watch the Rugby league,” he enthused.
