NSF invites 26 players as Edo hosts World Scrabble Championship qualifiers

The Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) has invited 26 players for the third stanza of the World English Scrabble Players Association Championship qualifiers taking place in Edo State from tomorrow to April 8.

The Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) has invited 26 players for the third stanza of the World English Scrabble Players Association Championship qualifiers taking place in Edo State from tomorrow to April 8.

According to the scrabble federation, the Championship tagged, Scrabble Meet Season 2 Series 3, is organised by NSF in conjunction with Edo State Scrabble Association under the auspices of Edo State Sports Commission.Top players in scrabble across the country would be storming Edo State to fight for a place in the world championship.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, national scrabble coach, Prince Anthony Ikolo assured that the best players would be make the final cut to the  India World championship later this year.“It is a four-day event with arrivals on April 4. The qualifiers promises to be exciting and thrilling as the creme de la crème of Nigerian scrabble will gather in Edo State for the event.

“The NSF thanks the Edo State government, deputy governor, Philip Shaibu and the Edo State Sports Commission chairman, Godwin Dudu-Orumen for supporting Nigerian scrabble and giving the players the honour to have  the qualifiers in Edo state.

“The first Stanza of the championship was held in Port Harcourt while the second in Lagos. After the Edo leg, the final round of the qualifiers will move to Port Harcourt where the selections would be made after calculating the points of all the players in the four editions,” he said.
