The Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) has commended Globacom Telecommunication, Glo Nigeria, for ensuring that Nigeria competed at the inaugural World English Scrabble Players Association Championship (WESPAC), which began last weekend.

NSF stated that the backing of Glo Nigeria made it possible for the national team, currently being camped in Benin city, Edo State, to join other countries in the WESPEC’s tournament.

Vice President of NSF and South-South zonal representative on the board, Bright Idohosa, thanked the telecommunication firm for coming to their rescue in giving the country’s team the much-needed support to continue being the best in Africa and the world.

He, however, called on other well-meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to assist in supporting scrabble to enable the country keep maintaining its pedigree in the sport.

According to reports, Team Nigeria, which is currently in camp at Edugie Homes and Suites, Benin City, Edo State was given the privilege to have two teams at the inaugural event based on Nigeria’s positive impact on the development of the game across the world. The event, which will end on December 5, has 23 member-nations vying for honours.
