The newly appointed coaches of Heartland Queens Football Club have been charged to go for glory in the upcoming 2019/20 Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL).

The newly appointed coaches of Heartland Queens Football Club have been charged to go for glory in the upcoming 2019/20 Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL).

The coaches, who received the tall order are experienced tactician and head coach, George Onyenekwe a.k.a ‘Bahardor’, and his assistants, Obi Ogbala and former Nigerian international, Stella Mbachu.Onyenekwe has variously and at different times coached multiple winners, Rivers Angels, Sharks FC, Dolphins FC and Iwuanyanwu Nationale, among others.

Ogbala performed well with Nasarawa Amazons, Pelican Stars, Rivers Angels and Remo Queens FC, among others, while Mbachu is about to cut her teeth in the dugout business with Heartland Queens after helping the country to win several laurels as a player. Heartland Queens chairperson, Tessy Nwoke, while handing over to the coaches their letters of appointment on Friday, said the era the side were known as perennial strugglers was over, adding that the coaches must hit the ground running to ensure the team competed favourably among the best in the land, especially in the up-coming league season.

“The stories around Heartland Queens in the past were not palatable as the team were almost perpetually struggling every season.“I have come to put a permanent stop to the perennial tag ‘strugglers’ and turn things around for the best.

“I have the mandate to overhaul the team in its entirety and breathe fresh air into every facet of the team, hence the painstaking approach to picking you out among the rest for the assignment.“Your resume speak for you as vastly experienced, knowledgeable and not rookies on the terrain.

“Right now, we do not want to struggle any more; we must go for glory in the up-coming league season.“You must endeavour to win the league’s top prize or worst case scenario you come second on the pecking order,” said Nwoke.Onyenekwe, who responded on behalf of his crew, assured the management of his team’s resolve to make Heartland Queens the best in the land in the coming league season.

“You have been quite cooperative with us, we will not disappoint or fail you, we will certainly make you proud,” said the soft-spoken gaffer.

Heartland Queens, who will compete in the up-coming 2019/20 Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL), commenced her official open assessment/screening of interested and talented players on Monday, February 03 at the mini stadium of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri.
