Okowa lauds sponsors as School of Commerce wins Zenith/Delta Principals’ Cup

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has hailed Zenith Bank for partnering with Delta State government in the growth of sports with the revival of Zenith Bank/Delta Principals’ Cup. The fourth edition ended yesterday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Okowa said the benefit of the partnership was unquantifiable given the number of youths that featured for more than 800 schools that participated in the competition.

“More than 800 schools participated in this competition and you can imagine the excitement.

“I salute Zenith Bank for the partnership; it is an opportunity for us to have a partnership of this magnitude with the bank. It is important to give these young people the opportunity to discover their talents and that is what this partnership has been able to do.

“In Delta, we take all round development of our children important; as we continue to develop education we have also invested in the growth of sports and the results are there for everyone to see,” he said.

The governor also announced that the winning school would get a new coaster bus while the Most Valuable Player would be offered scholarships.

However, School of Commerce, Warri defeated Zappa Mixed School, Asaba to emerge the champions of 2019 edition of the tournament.

The Warri-based school reproduced their semifinal form to defeat their counterparts from the capital city Asaba 2-1 to claim the title.

Second half goals from the Most Valuable Player of the tournament Ime Emekini ensured School of Commerce claim the title, the N1million prize money and a coaster bus.
