Organisers set for African Freestyle Championship’s zonal preliminaries

The organisers of this year’s African Freestyle Football Championship have disclosed that everything has been put in place for successful zonal preliminaries, starting with the Lagos leg at Rowe Park, Yaba on June 22.

The one-day event at the Rowe Park brings a new dimension into the competition, which started two years ago.

According to the organisers, the regional competitions will hold in four cities with the best players qualifying for the final billed for Lagos in September.

The organisers and rights holders of the competition, Feet & Tricks International, explained that the South West regional competition will hold in Lagos (Rowe Park) on June 22, just as the South South preliminaries will hold in Warri centre (Brownhill Event Centre) on June 30, just as the South East zone will converge on at the Cubana Lounge, Owerri on July 5. Abuja Central Park is the venue for the Northern zone slated for July 13.

The finals of this year’s championship, which is sanctioned by the World Freestyle Football Association and fully endorsed by WFFA co-founder Daniel Wood, will take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos on September 14 and 15.

“We are excited to have started the drive to pave a new direction for freestyle football in Africa,” Feet & Tricks International Chairman, Valentine Ozigbo, said recently in Lagos.

“In this year’s edition, we expect at least 30 African countries to be represented and many have already registered.

We will work on the continuous development of African freestyle talent and continually exploit all available resources to create more awareness for the sport, and we’re grateful to our sponsors and partners.”
