Already, the Golf Practice Range of the Ikoyi Club, Golf Section course, the venue of the annual competition, is now a beehive of activities and golfer takes to the range in preparations for the coming competition.

Potential corporate sponsors of the event have also been making inquiries with respect to partnering the organizers for the competition.

A tournament Organising Committee headed by Mr. Frank Igbene and assisted by Mr. Tade Adekunle and Mrs. Ronke Iyola, has been set up to provide the best Nigeria Cup tournament ever. The team is also responsible for raising funds and executing plans for the weeklong competitions.

The Nigeria Cup is a competition for six different categories of golfers, organised annually by the Ikoyi Golf Community Nigeria Association, (IGCNA), and hosted by Ikoyi Club 1938, to celebrate the nations Independence Anniversary.

Since its debut in 1997, The Nigeria Cup has grown to become the most popular and glamorous amateur golf event in Africa.
Apart from the golf course competitions, which will involve staff, caddies, professional golfers, male and female golfers of Ikoyi Club, the Nigeria Cup has become a financial vehicle, which impacts on its immediate environment through strategic investments in the golf infrastructure of Ikoyi Club Golf course, as well as donating to charities in Lagos State.

The theme of the 2021 Nigeria Cup is “Tapping Back To The Fairway.” It connotes a desire to strengthen golf etiquettes and the organisation of golf activities in Ikoyi.

The organisers have revealed that the event pre-qualifying round would hold on August 28, 2021 under the full COVID-19 protocol. The 2021 Nigeria Cup is the 24th edition in the series.
