National junior stars, Michael Osewa, Angel Mcleod and Fortune Aniso are some of the star performers at ongoing 2016 NNPC Junior Tennis Championship at the National Stadium Lagos, which enters the home stretch today.

Osewa, who was scheduled to be in the ITF European Tour, but could not make it due to visa issues, won three of his group matches. He defeated Ezekiel Ekong of Lagos 9-2 in the boy’s 16&under and also beat Kazeem Fadipe 9-1 in the 18&under.

McLeod also showed class as she won all her preliminary matches to advance to the next round.

She defeated Toyin Asogba 9-8 on Centre Court yesterday in the girl’s 16&under.

There were also wins for Rivers State’s duo of  Fortune Aniso and Timipre Maxwell. Aniso defeated Omolade Aderemi and Esther Olamide both from Ondo 9-0, 9-0 to advance to the next stage in the girl’s U16, while Maxwell beat Esther Marshall of Cross River 9-0 and Ebere Igbokwe in the girl’s 14&under.

Marylove Edward was also impressive wining two of her three games in the preliminary round. Emmanuel Jebutu also look good to progress by beating his Lagos teammate Wilson Igbinovia 9-4 and Fabian Joseph of Kaduna 9-6.
