Elmas then got his name on the score sheet in 58th minute to give Napoli a three-goal lead.
But, Udinese fought back and Isaac Success – a first half substitute – was at the heart of the late resurgence from the visitors.
Udinese pulled one back, Success provided the assist for Nevestorovski in the 79th minute. Then the second goal came three minutes later through Lazar Samardzic to set up the state for a nervy finish.
However, Napoli held on and got all three points to preserve their lead at the top and head into the world cup break 11 points clear of their nearest rivals, Lazio and AC Milan, having played a game more.
Osimhen also tops the Serie A scoring log with nine goals, while Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez comes in second with seven goals.
