Ota to host 16th RIGAN Games in December
The Acting Director of the Nigeria Building Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Ota, Prof. Samson Duna has disclosed that the institute would host the 16th RIGAN Games from December 31 to 22, 2019.
Briefing the National Council members of the Research Institute Association of Nigeria at a meeting held at the Institute of Agricultural Research, ABU, Zaria, Prof. Duna indicated that his Institute was almost 80 percent ready to host the biennial sporting fiesta.
He assured the council members that ongoing construction works on the Games Pavilion and other infrastructure required for the games would be completed before the end of November and reiterated the commitment of the Ogun State-based Institute to host befitting games
In his remarks, RIGAN National President, Prof. Rabiu Adamu indicated that this year’s games would feature new additional events, including male and female basketball and male five-a-side football.
He added that about 2,500 sportsmen and women from 30 research and development institutes were expected to participate in the games.
Prof. Adamu implored the participating institutes to pay up the games levies on time and commence preparations in earnest.
During the meeting, two additional research institutes were admitted to RIGAN.
