Successful players at the Mindgames Incorporated Scrabble Premier League (MGI) will share from the over N6 million prizes listed for winners at the competition scheduled to hold at Edmark D’ Podium International Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos from September 17 to 18.

According to the organisers of the event, 130 players from across the nation will participate at the two-day event.

MGI Scrabble League Convener, Lukman Owolabi, said the league meant to uncover hidden talents in the board game, as well as keep established players in competitive mood throughout the year, has also been attracting international scrabble stars coming Nigeria yearly.

He noted that this year’s final would be exciting and competitive, adding that many stars have registered for the event.

“We have 22 teams in total, comprising 12 teams in Division 1 and 10 teams in Division 2, as well as 132 players from across Nigeria.

“Another championship will hold alongside the MGI League finals on September 17 and 18 at the same venue. The second championship is called the MGI Patrons Cup.”

“We are expecting another set of 60 to 70 players to participate in the MGI Patrons Cup.

“So, you can see that it is a big fiesta for Nigerian scrabble players. Tranos Nigeria Ltd & Loense International, our corporate sponsors, have assured that they will continue to help in developing scrabble in Nigeria,” he added.
