Manchester United are facing a possible injury crisis ahead of their midweek clash against Crystal Palace, after three players went off injured in the first half of the Red Devils’ game against Liverpool.

Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were all substituted in the first 45 minutes at Old Trafford, with each of them going off with suspected injuries, making them doubts for the clash at Selhurst Park in midweek.

United are also without Nemanja Matic, Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian, Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo for the game at Old Trafford.

In addition, Marcus Rashford has looked far from comfortable, but remains on the pitch, with United having now made all three substitutions, with Lingard going off with an injury, having come on as a substitute himself to replace Mata.

Not since 2015 has a Premier League side had to make all three substitutions in the first half owing to injuries, with Burnley being the last side to suffer that fate.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Liverpool midfielder Ray Houghton says he has never seen anything like it, with Roberto Firmino also going off injured for Liverpool, making it four enforced substitutions in the first half of the contest.

But for fans of United’s next opponents, Crystal Palace, they are suddenly feeling a bit more positive about the prospect of facing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night, as can be seen from the reaction on social media.
