Paradou stun Enyimba, Al Masry, Wits also drop points

The result left Algerian outfit Paradou and Nigerian giants Enyimba placed second, and third respectively on the group standings.

The Aba Warriors threatened first through Stanley Okorom after the visitors were awarded a free-kick in a promising area.

The Enyimba full-back unleashed a shot which flew over the crossbar in the early stages of the encounter.

The hosts grew in confidence as the match progressed and they began creating goalscoring opportunities.

Abdelhak Kadri forced Enyimba goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali into a brilliant save in the 36th minute following a great move.

However, Enyimba stood firm at the back and the score was 0-0 during the half-time break.

Paradou were the better side in the early stages of the second-half and they came close to scoring in the 51st minute.

Nwabali had to make a great save from Mustapha Bouchina’s well-taken shot as pressure was mounted on the Enyimba defence.

The hosts deservedly broke the deadlock in the 64th minute when Abdelkader Ghorab scored with a first time effort to make it 1-0 to Paradou.

Jean Marie Guera was introduced in the closing stages of the match as Enyimba looked to grab a late equalising goal.

However, the hosts contained the two-time CAF Champions League winners and ultimately, Paradou emerged 1-0 winners over Enyimba.
Pyramids maintained their perfect start in the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

The Egyptian side remain at the top of the Group A standings after defeating their local rivals Al Masry 2-1 away.

Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou played to a 0-0 draw with Nigerian outfit Enugu Rangers at home in another Group A match game.

Moroccan outfit Berkane thrashed DR Congolese giants DC Motema Pembe 3-0 at home in a Group B encounter, while Zambia’s Zanaco and Beninese side ESAE played to a 0-0 draw in Porto-Novo.

Meanwhile, Guinean champions Horoya continued their dominance in Group C by defeating Malian giants Djoliba 1-0 in Conakry.

Former South African champions Bidvest Wits remain winless in Group C after drawing 0-0 with Libyan outfit Al Nasr at home.
