Kano Pillars, on current form, will face a Herculean task subduing their opponent, Plateau United, when both teams meet in today’s league match.

The hosts, who have drawn two matches at home this season, may struggle to seal a victory in today’s epic clash at the Sani Abacha Stadium

The encounter, a Matchday 12 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), will see the Sai Masu Gida welcome the Peace Boys from Plateau in a northern derby.

Pillars, who are currently occupying 11th position on the table, have won four games, drawn two and lost five games out of 11. They have just 14 points. Whereas Plateau United have won seven games, drawn none, lost four and they have 21 points out of 11 fixtures.

Speaking to The Guardian yesterday on what to expect from his team in today’s fixture, Plateau United’s Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu said his boys are battle ready against the host team.

“Our match against Kano Pillars is a big one, considering the quality of our opponent. We are no pushover too because it is a game we have prepared well for. I believe we are going to give our best and come out unscathed.

“Thank God that officiating in the league this season has been fair and open. Now, any team can win or lose anywhere and I clearly understand the terrain, especially their fans.

“If you check the results of our hosts this season at home, you will see that they have drawn two games and have lost some away fixtures. We too have lost some away games. I believe we have a 50-50 chance in the game and we believe that anything can happen with luck on our side,” he stated.

Other fixtures today, are Lobi Stars taking on the bottom of the table spot, MFM FC, while Akwa United will square up with Heartland, as Gombe United clash with league leader, Remo Stars.

Shooting Stars have a duel against Dakkada, while Enugu Rangers will battle against Abia Warriors in an oriental derby as Nasarawa United confront Sunshine Stars.
