Rennes’ Ghanaian defender Seidu suffers ACL injury

Rennes’ Ghanaian international Alidu Seidu has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee, the Ligue 1 club confirmed on Monday.The 24-year-old defender came off in tears in the 18th minute of Rennes’ 1-0 French league defeat at Lille on Sunday.

The club did not say how long he would be out of action but this type of injury could rule the 15-times capped international out for the rest of the season.

The news is a blow for the Brittany club who are currently 15th in Ligue 1, just one point above the relegation zone after three straight losses.
