Today’s opening game of the ongoing Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) Championship Play-off promises exciting moments as perennial champions, Enyimba of Aba and another former champions, Lobi Stars, clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

Enyimba played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Remo Stars of Ikenne on the opening day, while Lobi Stars were held to a goalless draw by Bendel Insurance same day. The match begins by 2.00 p.m.

Current leaders, Rivers United, will test their might of Remo Stars, who have defied expectations to rank among the toughest teams in the country within its short history.

The Ikenne-based team twice came from behind to share the spoils with Enyimba on Saturday. And against a Rivers United side aiming for the win that would all but guarantee them a continental ticket, the game, which starts by 4.00 p.m., promises 90 minutes of fireworks.

The last game of the day will see Bendel Insurance against a wounded Sunshine Stars of Akure, who lost their opening game to Rivers United. The winner of the competition will earn N100 million for their efforts, according to NPFL’s Interim Management Committee (IMC).

A total of five goals were scored in three matches with the opening game of the playoffs between Enyimba and Remo Stars the most entertaining with four goals. Rivers United versus Sunshine Stars ended with a goal, while there were no goals in the Lobi Stars against Bendel Insurance game.
