Godwin Izilein, former Chief Coach of the Super Falcons and U-17 teams has urged the Super Eagles to be focused to enable them qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Izilein told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Benin that all group B teams in Friday’s World Cup draws in Egypt, had equal chances of going through to Russia.

Nigeria is drawn in Group B alongside, Algeria, Egypt and Cameroun, with only the best team expected to qualify for the finals of the World Cup.

The former handler of the Super Falcons said that the Supper Eagles should rely on current performance rather than “yesterday performance” if they must qualify.

He said like Nigeria, the other three countries parade some of the best players in the continent, adding that they also play the finest of football at the moment.

According to him, the group is dicey as teams’ performance cannot be predicted.

For Cameroun at the moment, you cannot predict, when you think they are gone, they come out strong.

Algeria on the other hand has been a fantastic side all through their qualifier for the nation cup.

If you talk of those who play smooth football in the continent at the moment, give it to the Algerians.

Similarly, Zambia for some time now, are neither here nor there, they come out with their home base players who play with their raw energy to destroy big teams.’’

According to him, If we are to make it through this group, we must be above board. We must raise our standard more than ever before.

Izilein said; “we must select the best players we have and we must also not rely on yesterday’s performance, but current one to scale through.
