Cyriel Dessers is in contention to replace injured compatriot, David Okereke when Serie A’s bottom two continue their desperate scrap for survival on Saturday as Cremonese visit Sampdoria.

Cremonese’s injury situation remains unchanged ahead of the game at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris with Alex Ferrari, Vlad Chiriches and Okereke all still out of action,” says Football Italia.

“The visitors’ options are limited in terms of potential changes to the starting XI but striker, Cyriel Dessers is certain to return.” Okereke’s name was not included in Cremonese’s travelling squad.

A thigh injury also ruled Okereke out of Cremonese’s Coppa Italia semi-final encounter which they lost 2-0 against Fiorentina at the Stadio Giovanni Zini on Wednesday night.

Okereke was missing in action too when Cremonese lost 3-1 to Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta in the Serie A last weekend while Dessers replaced Marco Benassi in the 74th minute.

Meanwhile, Dessers had a very good rating from Davide Ballardini due to his performance against Fiorentina during the midweek with Cremonese head coach praising the Nigerian.

“Against Fiorentina, Dessers was good, he entered the field well and in the second half, we saw another Cremonese. In my opinion, however, he alone is not enough for an attack.”
