Shaibu tasks freshmen on discipline as NIS matriculates 200

Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko

Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute for Sports, Philip Shaibu, has charged new students of the institution to make discipline their watchword if they want to succeed in their chosen professions.

After a year hiatus, the NIS yesterday matriculated 200 students in the various departments.

The admission is coming after a year since the admission process was suspended by Shaibu to reorganise the institute’s structure.

Speaking at the matriculation held at the school’s campus inside the National Stadium, Lagos, Shaibu said the new intakes are coming after the reorganisation of the students’ admission procedure in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which aims at repositioning the NIS as a foremost sports institute.

“We have completed the administrative phase of repositioning the NIS and that’s why we’ve opened the admission for the next intakes.

“This is the first set and I think they are lucky because we’ve reorganised everything about the institute from the lecturers to the curriculum as part of the plan to turn it into a global institution,” the former Edo State deputy governor said.

Shaibu advised the new intakes to not only be law abiding, but also be disciplined to succeed in their careers.
