South/West golf club chiefs set for IGC Captain’s inaugural tourney

Captains of notable golf clubs in the South West and top shots in the golfing community in Nigeria have signified interest to honour the captain and lady captain of Ibadan Golf Club

Captains of notable golf clubs in the South West and top shots in the golfing community in Nigeria have signified interest to honour the captain and lady captain of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Ola Ibironke and Mary Okunola by participating in their inaugural golf competition.

The event tagged, Dudu and Mary Captain and Lady Captain Day Kitty, is scheduled for October 2 and 3 with super veterans expected to play in the nine-hole tournament.

The participants are expected to attend the event’s cocktail on Thursday, while the main competition, which that be strictly by the draws in stroke play format, holding on Saturday at the greenish course of IGC.

Among current and past captains of clubs in the South West registered for the Dudu Heritage inaugural competition are Uwem Udoh, Captain of the golf section of Ikoyi Club and his Vice-Captain M.I Okoro, Gboyega Omotoyinbo, Abiodun Abayomi, Wale Adeogun, Barin Epega, Chief Okafor, Segun Oyinlola, Ladi and Muyiwa Laniyan among others.

Among corporate firms supporting the event is Perfect Clicks Signature, owned by a lady golfer, Omolaraeni Olaosebikan, who doubles as the secretary of IGC lady section.

According to the Chairman Planning Committee, Akin Funmilayo, participants are expected to adhere strictly to COVID-19 measures as laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC). 

“We’re going to adhere strictly to the established protocol of the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) as regards Covid-19 measures during the tournament as we’re already observing all precautionary measures against the pandemic at Ibadan Golf Club”, Funmilayo noted.
