St. Gregory, Queens College, others for finals of GTBank Master Cup
Defending champions, St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi and Queens College, Yaba have again sailed through to the finals of this year’s GTBank Masters Cup for Lagos State in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
The games played at the Onikan Stadium on Thursday and Friday, saw St. Gregory beating Chrisland 4-3 in the boys category, while Queens College, Yaba defeated Ansar Ud Deen Girls High School, Itire 2-0.
Two goals each from Olakunle Latona and Ifeanyi Unegbu ensured that the boys from St. Gregory progressed to the final. The Chrisland boys with great ball possession, scored their three goals in the second half through Gift Ezike (two) and Akinlabi Tomisan (one) to avert humiliation.
In the second game, which was played on Friday in the boys’ category, Greensprings School thrashed Kings College, Lagos 5- 2.
Also on Thursday, Queens College, Yaba, beat Ansar Ud Deen Girls High School, Itire 2-0, while Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC) triumphed over Methodist Girls High School, Yaba, 4-3 on penalties after a goalless match on Friday.
Speaking on the match, the most valuable player, Nzube Ndubueze from St. Gregory, said he was happy they won the match against Chrisland.
The finals have been fixed for June 17 at the Onikan Stadium.
