Sylvester, Babalola in CBN tennis men’s final
Quadri Faces Agugbom In Women’s Event
Sylvester Emmanuel showed why he is highly rated in Nigerian tennis circuit when he defeated Thomas Otu 6-3, 6-1 to qualify for the final of the CBN Senior Tennis Tournament, where he will meet Abdulmumuni Babalola, who beat Imeh Joseph 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the second semifinals.
The final match, which is a repeat of last year’s championship game, will see
Sylvester aiming to hold on to his crown against an opponent he beat 2-1 the last time they met in the competition.
Junior sensation, Oyinlomo Quadri, who added Blessing Anuna to her list of victims with a 6-0, 6-0 win in one of the semifinals, will meet number two seed, Christy Agugbom in the women final. Agugbom beat hard-fighting Aanu Aiyegbusi 7-5, 6-1 in the second semifinal.
Earlier yesterday, Oyinlomo Quadri combined with Tenu-Michael to beat the duo of Christy Agugbom and Blessing Samuel 6-2, 6-3 to win the women’s doubles title.
