Team Lagos enter camp ahead Edo 2020 National Sports Festival

After successful trials to screen and select athletes that will represent the state at the forthcoming Edo 2020 National Sports Festival, Lagos State Sports Commission began closed camping for its athletes on Monday.

The closed camping, which will hold for 13 days, will end on March 21.

More than 680 athletes are involved in the closed camping, which is holding at Agbowa Relief  Camp, Ikorodu and the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. 

Team Lagos will take part in 40 sports, including eight team Sports and 32 individual sports at this year’s National Sports Festival in Edo State, which takes place from March 20 to April 2.

Team Lagos athletes, before now, had been involved in rigorous training in preparation for the Edo 2020.

Athletes camped at Agbowa are training at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu and Strong Tower Academy, Ikorodu, Model College, I
gbogbo, while those at the Teslim Balogun Stadium are training at the National Stadium in Surulere and Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Director-General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar said all hands were on deck to ensure that Team Lagos had a successful outing at the Edo 2020, adding that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu had always supported the Sports Commission towards the preparation for the Sports Festival.

The Director-General enjoined all the athletes to be focused on the task ahead, while promising that everything the athletes would need while in camp and more importantly during the Festival in Edo State would be provided.
