The Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) has revealed that the Third Plateau Junior Open Championship will tee off on April 18 at the Rayfield Golf Club Jos.

The competition, open to players aged 18 and below, is sponsored by Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, who has become a stronger pillar for the sport.

According to NGF’s Youth Development Officer, Ms. Emy Ekong, the players are expected to arrive in Jos on April 18 for registration and acclimatisation with the Rayfield Club’s field, while actual competition will hold on April 19 and 20.

She said the closing ceremony would hold on April 20, while the participants are expected to depart from Jos the following day.

Ekong added: “Accommodation is free for those coming from outside Jos, just as entry and feeding (breakfast and lunch) are also free.

“This championship will serve as one of the National Ranking for the Order of Merit and qualifier for the 2020 All Africa Junior Golf Challenge in Egypt.”

She advised intending participants to send their names/clubs to the NGF on or before April 15, 2019 for documentation.

Last year, more than 180 children featured in the competition, which is part of the NGF’s youth development and following the success of that edition, the organisers expect more players and clubs to register for this edition.
