Tikon sure Nigeria’s table tennis team will excel in Tokyo

President of the Nigeria Table Federation (NTF), Engr. Ishaku Tikon has commended Nigerian players for picking tickets for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games’ table tennis event.

President of the Nigeria Table Federation (NTF), Engr. Ishaku Tikon has commended Nigerian players for picking tickets for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games’ table tennis event.

Tikon, who was live in Tunisia to cheer his team to victory, said the qualifiers wasn’t an easy task and gave thanks to God for the victory.

The President, who is also the third Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) praised Aruna Quadri, Olajide Omotayo, Olufunke Oshonaike, and Offiong Edem for making Nigeria proud at the continental Table Tennis fiesta, which was the last  window for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers for Table Tennis,

As an executive board member of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation, Engr. Tikon, who is also the chairman of the Olympafrica Commission of the NOC, said the country’s next target was to have a podium finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

“We are not going to Tokyo for Jamboree. We are going there to show the whole world that our qualifications is not a fluke.

“We have the best and highest ranked male player in Africa, in person of Aruna Quadri and that informs our readiness to shock the world,” Tikon said.

The NTTF president also commended Youth and Sports Development Minister, Sunday Dare for supporting and encouraging the team.
