Enyimba is hope of taking the lead in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) for the first time this season came to a shuddering halt yesterday in Bauchi, where Wikki Tourists shot down the Peoples Elephant 3-1 in a rescheduled tie.

The defending champions had been on a seven-game unbeaten run and were hoping to get the points that would take them above Rivers United on the log. But they were given a rude awakening by the hard-fighting Tourists, who put three past goals Theophilus Afelokhai in the pulsating game.

Abubakar Lawal gave Wikki the lead in the 18th minute when he nodded in a free kick past Afelokhai, but Chima Akas equalized via a splendid free kick a few minutes later.

And just when the visitors thought they would escape with at least a draw, Idris Guda Mohammed restored Wikkiís lead in the 88th minute, before Godwin Obaje made it 3-1 off the penalty spot just before the final whistle.
