The Bishop of Igbomina Diocese, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Adekola, has appealed to the church, governments at all levels, non-governmental organisations and individuals to assist Nigerians who were affected by the recent flood in some parts of the country.

The Bishop made the appeal at his fifth enthronement Thanksgiving Service at the Christ Anglican Church, Ijomu-Oro, Irepodun Local Council in Kwara State.

The cleric also enjoined Christians to intensify efforts at spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to every part of the world, so that, people will eschew evil.

Adekola, who is the second and current Bishop of the Diocese that was created 23 years ago, noted that mission is the core Church activity and needed the cooperation of every member to evangelise the gospel.

He appreciated the people for supporting him in the past five years of his episcopacy at the Diocese.

The Bishop urged the new Chancellor of the Diocese, Dr. Ruth Abiola Adimula, who was also sworn in as the legal adviser to the Bishop and the Diocese, to be faithful to God who called her to function in that capacity,

The new Chancellor, who is a lawyer and lecturer at the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin promised to discharge her duties accordingly.

Earlier, Venerable Emmanuel Fajemiyo stressed the need for believers to always give thanks to God in all circumstances, adding that thanksgiving opens divine doors. He also called on members to remain faithful to their callings.

Highlight of the enthronement anniversary included launch of a brochure containing the achievements of Bishop Adekola in the past five years, as the second Bishop of Igbomina Diocese, cutting of cake, establishment of Itesiwaju Missionary Archdeaconry with headquarters at Ajasse-Ipo, special thanksgiving by all Archdeaconries under the Diocese as well as prayer for Kwara State and Nigeria.

Dignitaries at the event were Eledidi of Edidi, Oba Gabriel Aboyeji; the Alapa of Omido, Oba John Adegboyega Adeyemi, among others.
