Text: John 3:1-7; Mathew 7:13-14

Key Verse: Matthew 7:14, “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (NIV)

You may have been going to church, but you have not really given your life to Jesus Christ. He is not Lord of your life; He is not Saviour of your life. You don’t have a testimony before the devil and you don’t have confidence before the devil. What God knows about your demands is that you should make up your mind to surrender to Christ. You are a church member, but you don’t have Jesus in your life; you have not fully surrendered to Him, you are not yielded to him. You are still telling yourself what to do, and the devil is still leading you here and there. Your testimony is not clear and you know it. Today, you can give your life to Jesus.

Jesus breaks the yoke of sin. It doesn’t matter what the chains are; Jesus breaks every chain. The demoniac was crying helplessly, cutting himself with stones and running up and down the tomb. But when Jesus met him, He rebuked the unclean spirit and he was delivered completely (John 5:8). The apostle Paul looked up and down and said, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ and somebody asked why? He said because it is the power of God unto salvation so that all the chains of darkness are removed and all the fetters are broken away (Romans 1:16). Today, you can be delivered and set free from all the chains of the devil.

Not all roads lead to Heaven. It is only the narrow way that leads to Heaven, but only a few are finding it. The broadway is the way of the world system that allows everything and anything. The way to Christ and eternal life is a narrow one. The narrow way may be difficult and challenging, but that is God’s way. Jesus told a zealous man wanting to be His disciple to go and sell all he had and come and follow Him, and the man went away because he could not follow the narrow way (Mathew 19:21-22). The songwriter sang, “It’s not an easy road, there are trials and troubles and many are the dangers we meet; but Jesus guards and keeps so that nothing can harm us, and smooths the rugged path for our feet.”

I plead with you, remove yourself from the wide gate. It is the easy way of the world, where you do anything and everything that pleases the flesh but displeases God. The broadway leads to Hell, a place reserved for the eternal punishment of those who forget God. Hell is a place of weeping, gnashing of teeth (Mathew 8:12) and a place of endless torment of pain and “the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:48).

Follow the narrow way that leads to eternal life. It is narrow because Jesus is the only way to salvation, no other way through which you can be saved (John 14:6). It is narrow because to go this way, you must repent from your sins and be born again. Jesus said to Nicodemus, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3). It is narrow because it is the way of holiness, righteousness, uprightness, sound mind, purity, right living, straightforwardness, truthfulness, honesty, love and sincerity. It is not the mago mago and wuru wuru way. It does not allow anything and everything. Please, follow the narrow way, so that you will be among the people that will spend eternity with Christ in Heaven.
