Beware of false prophets
Text: Matthew 7: 15
Jesus Christ is the only wise God. He is all knowing God. He knows the destructive tendencies of false prophets, hence, the warning to all believers to beware of them. The damning effects of associating with false prophets are painful and reverberate to all eternity.
False prophets seem to have fortified themselves with evil powers, such that feeble-minded souls are swayed by their sugar-coated messages and false signs and wonders. Sad enough, their victims do not live to tell their stories! They are devouring wolves and do not have pity for their victims. Shedding of innocent blood is a norm and ‘sport’ to them.
Balaam is an example of false prophet, who would do anything, howbeit dishonest for filthy lucre and love of money. False prophets and prophetesses desecrate the house of God and make merchandise of people. They measure their success in ministry by their ill-gotten wealth made in dubious ways and not the souls won to the Kingdom of God.
These false prophets sell so-called ‘healing’ oil, wristband and ‘holy’ water for millions. Some have ‘healing’ pools in their churches and charge fee to unsuspecting victims, who dive into it for healing. Healing and miracles are sold for money in the assemblies of false prophets.
Today, false prophets are everywhere. They are identifiable: we can know them by their fruits. They come with enticing prophesies on prosperity and breakthrough, but their outward appearance suggests poverty! One wonders how someone can give what he does not have!
It is an anomaly and absurd for a Christian to throw his weight on false prophets that have no solution to anything on planet earth. There are many self-acclaimed prophets all over the streets, who were never called by God. Their messages have no substance and cannot lead anyone to salvation. They are deceptive in nature.
False prophets bear fruit of hypocrisy. They mask their true identity and devour homes and tear down without mercy. Pretences are their stock in trade. False prophets pretend to know Jesus, but in works they deny Him. They destroy the very foundation of the gospel and misrepresent Christ. They manifest fake love to their congregation by sharing food items and other material things to perpetually keep their prey in captivity. Victims of false prophets tell stories of woes that twinkle the ears of the hearers!
False prophets bear thorns and thistles. They add and subtract from God’s Word. The Lord Almighty has long pronounced penalty on them. In Deuteronomy 13:1-10, the Lord commanded the children of Israel to stone them to death. This shows how abominable they are in the sight of God. Fellowshipping with false prophets is dangerous and can lead to hell fire.
They have made themselves God and arrogate honour and ‘corner’ God’s glory to themselves. They distort God’s Word and teach their congregation in part.
It is time to shut the mouths of false prophets in our nation. Their end has come, because they have deceived many and perverted the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ for gain. God’s silence does not portend weakness. His sword cannot be withheld from false prophets, who fail to repent and turn to Jesus.
The end of false prophets is always disastrous. Flee from the camp of false prophets; beware of them and save your soul from destruction.
