The Oba of Benin has given cash incentive to staff and pupils of South Point Royal School, Benin City for their impressive cultural performance during Oba Ewuare II’s second coronation anniversary.

His Royal Majesty, who gave the cash award in his Palace, said the children’s performance was wonderful and colourful. He commended their teachers for a job well done.

The monarch advised them to keep up the cultural awareness, in order not to lose their cultural heritage. The Omo N’Oba promised to host the children to a party in the New Year.

Earlier, the Headmistress of South Point Royal School, Miss Winifred Afegbua said they were in the Palace to present the children to His Royal Majesty, and commended the Oba of Benin and the school management for the opportunity given them to showcase our rich culture.

The sum of N500, 000 was presented to the children that participated in the cultural performance, while the teachers received N100, 000. The students will enjoy a reduction in their tuition fee for a term
