We are all born with one talent or the other. No matter one’s social or financial status, or even family background, Providence has endowed everyone with at least a talent that can be developed to take one to great heights.

In the Togo capital, the fashion for wearing strings of beads around the waist -- an ancient tradition known as 'djonou' in the Gulf of Guinea region -- has made a comeback in recent years. Favoured by young women as an object of both beauty and seduction, the djonou also has a spiritual aspect, guaranteeing the wearer the protection of her ancestors. We are all born with one talent or the other. No matter one’s social or financial status, or even family background, Providence has endowed everyone with at least a talent that can be developed to take one to great heights. And even though some people are very creative and are disposed towards turning things around for the better, this is no guarantee that they have all it takes to survive in life. This is because such talents still have to be channeled into productive venture to bring money.

Providence is, in fact, very generous in this regard and all one needs to do is simply identify the areas of his/her gifting and begin to do things from there. So, it is important to never walk in anyone’s shadow or allow criticisms to kill your talent. We are not equally gifted neither do we have the same talents. So, look out for and align with like-minded people to help you realise and maximise your potentials.

Perhaps you are artistic and love using your hands or knitting, but surrounded by people that have distaste for such things. If care is not taken you might end up doing away with this ability. But in so doing, you are doing yourself a disservice, as you are not only depriving yourself a good means of making money, but also depriving yourself of the fulfilment that comes from satisfying a need or an inner urge to express yourself through it.

Wealth does not come by mere wishes. It only comes, when people have invested time and money in creative thinking and on their talents. So, today, we’ll take a look at the fashion world, where you would have noticed that fashionistas are moving away from metal necklaces to beads and corals. These are intricately designed and come in diverse colours.

There is a lot of money to be made from embellishing cloths with beads and corals, which make them beautiful and unique. If you have an inclination for this and thoroughly develop yourself in it, you would most likely become a sought-after student, who with time could also be a fashion consultant.

No matter how you look at it, beads and coral necklaces do not go out of fashion. They are part of the Nigerian culture and would always be in demand. Unlike the metallic version, they are not itchy on skin and sit well on traditional attires.

Interestingly, learning how to make beads and coral necklaces perfectly can be undertaken within a week, if you duly apply yourself. So, if you are already good at needle works and desire to hone your skill, then just make out two or three hours daily for a week and presto! You have mastered it. All it takes might just be staying close to or hanging around anyone that does it well; and before long you would have acquired the skill. Remember that no knowledge is lost, and though it might seem irrelevant now, you can be sure it will definitely come handy one day soon.

Beads and coral necklaces are expensive and people, especially ladies, love them for the added glamour they bestow on the wearer. The beautiful thing about this craft is that you can start it from your own room. And it won’t interfere with your studies because it could be done at one’s spare time. Also, the raw materials are sourced locally and suppliers can even bring them to your hostel, if you so desire; the option is all yours.

The market cuts across students and also includes online space, if only you pay attention to details, and are very creative with your designs, which price should be pocket friendly.Take advantage of this and supply the many ladies that desire to look fashionable and sophisticated.
