Gregory varsity employs pioneer graduates, slashes tuition by 30%
History was made at the maiden convocation of Gregory University Uturu (GUU), Abia State, as all the 72 pioneer graduates were offered immediate employment, while the school tuition was slashed by 30 per cent for current students.
Announcing this after being installed as pioneer Chancellor, the proprietor, Dr. Gregory Ibe, said all the graduates will be engaged and paid stipends until they proceed for the national youth service, adding that the slashing of fees was GUU’s response to the prevailing recession.
This was followed by the redemption of the pledge made by a member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Uche Ogah, to give automatic employment in his companies to the best graduating accounting student and the best performing student. He also awarded scholarship for both students to do their master’s and doctorate degrees in the case of the best accounting student and masters for the best non-accounting student.Monetary prizes ranging from N50, 000 to N100,000 were also given to students that performed well in other aspects of learning.
