President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Supo Ayokunle, has called for prudent use of the nation’s resources to change the country’s story for the better.

He made the call during the inauguration of a 288-bed hostel facility built by Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, the Physiotherapy building erected by Bowen University Parents Forum (BUPAF) and a regal park donated by the students of the university.

The launching of the facilities as part of activities marking the institution’s 14th convocation ceremony.

Dedicating the facilities, Ayokunle, who is a Visitor to the university, condemned the extravagant lifestyle of some political leaders in the country, noting that if leaders loved the country, they would not be siphoning and mismanaging public funds.

He said: “Bowen University is a living organism racing towards being the best in the country and all hands are on deck. Three projects were dedicated the same day: one by the students, one by the parents and one by the school itself. This tells us that, if we use the nation’s resources judiciously, a lot can be achieved and the nation’s narrative changed for the better…”

The Chancellor of the university, Rev. (Dr.) Olumide Kehinde said the inauguration was a fulfillment of the scripture, which says: “We should not despise the day of little beginning,” adding that a conducive environment plays a major part in learning.

The Vice-chancellor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole disclosed that the university built the 288-bed hostel facility without borrowing a kobo, while the Pro-chancellor and Governing Council Chairman, Deacon Wole Abegunde, said the building of the facility was in line with the institution’s vision to be a foremost Christian institution.
