Church Of Nigeria organises film production training for youths
As a way of following up on its youth engagement, the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has commenced the training of 65 youths on filmmaking and production. This is to enable the youths to discover and hone their talents in acting, takeover the film industry and become self-reliant.
The Primate of the Church, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, during his unscheduled visit to the trainees at the High Definition Film Academy in Gwarinpa, said he was happy with the organisation and the training environment, adding that he was at the academy to monitor, evaluate and bless the trainees before their graduation on November 3, 2022.
Ndukuba noted that the church believes in empowering the youths as a way of making them job creators and also to reduce social vices.
The cleric who explained that the trainees were selected based on their passion, advised the trainees to be focused for their breakthrough.
The Primate admonished that the road to success is not easy and enjoined the youths to be committed to their training.
He noted that the Joshua Generation’s mission was to mobilise young people for a better future, urging them not to disappoint their families and the church.
The Chairman of Joshua Generation Movie Team of the Anglican Communion, Ndubueze Ugazi, in his address disclosed that the 65 students selected were trained in different categories of movie production, including acting, cinematography and scriptwriting.
Ugazi said that the trainees were expected to launch into filmmaking and takeover the industry for God at the end of their training.
“The essence of this vision by the Primate is to have Christians who will not shy away from the entertainment industry because of the challenges in the sector,” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer, High Definition Film Academy, Bright Obasi, said: “This is the right time to key into filmmaking in Nigeria. You have big streamline platforms coming and others such as Netflix, Amazon and HPO already in the country. When you talk of profitability of movies, this is the best time.”
