Rotary Club of Apakun gets new president

The President of Rotary Club of Apakun, Lagos, Rotarian Eke Chinedum Obioha, has promised that the Rotary year 2026/2027 will be a year of rendering service and impacting lives.

Speaking during his investiture as the club’s 39th president, he said the flagship project is going to be on maternal and child health.

“The second priority project is upscaling vocational training programme in collaboration with Rotary Club of Mumbai Coastline, India, District 3141,” he said.

He, however, stated that beyond the two projects, the club would touch other areas of focus of Rotary like basic education and literacy, water and sanitation, disease prevention and treatment and environment.
The District Governor, Rotary International District 9111,Rotarian Bukola Olabisi Bakare, said that Rotarians are people serving people in the community.

“We want to increase our membership by 50 per cent. Of course, in my district, we want to charter 20 new clubs. The second priority is on the foundation. We intend to raise about a million dollars for the Rotary Foundation.

“The third is our public image. You know Rotary has been doing a lot of good things but we often keep quiet about it. People don’t get to know about it. Now is the time to tell our story.”

The Chairman Installation Ceremony, Planning Committee, Rotarian Olagoke Lawal, said the gathering holds deep significance for them.

“Beyond the formal handing over, we are here to honour progress, deepen our bond of fellowship, and reaffirm our shared dedication to making a tangible adherence both at home and beyond. What unites us as Rotarians is service above self.”
