Covenant of grace
Psalm 103:1-5 talks about these benefits: Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Beloved, this is the heart of God. He wants you to remember all the benefits that Jesus has purchased for you with His blood! It is God’s desire for you to enjoy every single benefit, every blessing and favour from Him in the new covenant of grace.
Forgiveness of sin, sound health, divine protection, favour, and all the good things He has provided for us. These and all the precious gifts from the Lord bring unspeakable joy to Him, when He sees you enjoying these gifts and succeeding in life. But, the lack of knowledge of all Jesus accomplished at the cross robs you of enjoying them.
What we need today are not more laws, but the revelation and appreciation of Jesus and everything that He has done for us. In Hosea 4:6, God lamented, ‘my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6a
Don’t allow ignorance to rob you anymore. We are now under the new covenant of grace through Jesus finished work (Hebrews 8:1-13).
The covenant of Moses is obsolete; it is no longer relevant for the new covenant believer who is in Christ today. God Himself in verse 7 says, “If that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.”
Based on this portion of the scripture, if there was nothing wrong with the old covenant of law, why would God give up His one and only precious Son to be crucified on the cross, in order to make a new covenant with us? Why would God be willing to pay such a heavy price, allowing Jesus to be publicly humiliated and suffer violence if there was nothing wrong with the old covenant of law?
The amazing unconditional love God has for you and me is that He found fault with the old covenant and decided to rescue us from our sins by making a new covenant, the covenant of grace with His Son Jesus. He knew that no man could be made righteous by the law or works. Only the blood of His Son would be able to justify and make us righteous in Christ.
Throughout the years, the Israelites were under the law and not a single person was made righteous by the law. Even best of them (such as David) failed. The Bible describes him as a man after God’s own heart, but he failed. Under the law, we have no hope. Thank God that under the new covenant of Grace, even the worst of us can call upon the name of Jesus and receive Him as our Lord and Sviour.
Under the law, even the best failed. Under the covenant of grace, even the worst can be saved and do exploit.
Hear Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:1, But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
He said I will rather gladly boast in my infirmities so that the power of Christ may rest upon me because Jesus told me in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that His grace is sufficient for me and His strength is made perfect in my weakness.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
By the covenant of grace, when you are weak you are strong in Christ Jesus. Receive grace to perform, grace to complete, grace to harvest and grace to enjoy your portion of harvest. You will not die on the road, you will fulfill your destiny and finish well. Every appointment with death in this second half of this year is cancelled in Jesus name.
