Members of Daystar Choir, Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria and Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche were among the distinguished Nigerians honoured at the just concluded CLIMA Africa Awards 2022.

In the past six years, CLIMA Africa has been organising awards to celebrate outstanding and distinguished Nigerians.

Speaking at the event which took place at MUSON Centre Lagos on Sunday, October 9, Chief Executive Officer, CLIMA Africa Awards, Uwak Mike, said leaving a lasting legacy simply means putting a stamp on the future and making a contribution to future generations.

He described a person’s legacy as a gift that passes from one generation to another within a family, group, community, and the world at large.

To him, this legacy can be a gift of money or property. More commonly, he said it’s a gift of knowledge, values, or love.

According to him, “a person’s legacies is how they will be remembered by those who come after them. Your heritage involves your daily activities and interactions, as well as how you handle the tough times and important moments that come your way while on earth. When you are no more, people will either talk about the positive impact you left behind or the dirty linen you left unwashed.”

He however identified funding as a challenge and called for more partners to support the award.

In his acceptance speech, Daystar Choir Music Director, Dr. Sheyi Kehnny, said the group is also known as Healing Streams of God (HSOG). He expressed appreciation to the organisers for the award.

He further explained that the choir has performed, composed, arranged, and adapted gospel music works that are widely used by other choirs for Christmas carols, concerts, and other musical events.

Formed in 1995 under the leadership of Pastors Sam and Nike Adeyemi, Dr. Khenny added that through life-transforming ministrations, HSOG has become a role model for other choirs over the decades and will continue to be such with excellent and quality service to the Lord.

Some other awardees include Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, Mr. Ifeanyi Obi, Mercy Chinwo, Dunsin Oyekan, Emmanuelking, Bishop Franklin Mugisha, Moses Bliss, Dr. Dennis Iyang and Sinach among others.
