Definition Of Some Diseases In The Bible (Cont)
Several illness accompanied by fever are mentioned in Matt 8:14-15; John 4:46-52; Acts 28:8. In the last cited reference, the ill man also had dysentery.

Surgery: The only surgical procedure mentioned in the Bible is circumcision. This was done for religious rather than medical reasons and was not ordinarily performed by a doctor. Circumcision was a sign of the promise or covenant made between God, Abraham, and the entire nation of Israel (Gen 17:9-13; Jos 5:2-3)

Treatment Of Some Diseases In The Bible
“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15: And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven” (Jas. 5:14-15).

Also read Mk. 6:5, 6; Acts 14:8-10; Lk. 8:48.
Prayer in times of illness — Psalm 6.
“Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.” (Ps 6:2)

Also read Ps. 107:10-14; 17-20; Ex. 17:10-13.
Therefore, in order to receive healing do the following:

1. Faith in Jesus Christ. 2. Humble yourself. 3. Confess your sins and repent. 4. Pray and seek God’s face. 5. Ask the pastors and other believers to pray for you. 6. We are healed when we receive forgiveness from God (Ps. 51:8) and out of compassion when we seek Him (Mt. 14:14).

Furthermore, note that there are blessings in time of illness if you have been helping the poor.

“Blessed is he who considers the poor; the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. 2: The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; you will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. 3: The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; you will sustain him on his sickbed,” (Ps. 41:1-3).

Be conscious of the fact that God may delay healing for a purpose ( Jn. 11:4-6); wait on the Lord (Is. 40:29-31) confidently.

“And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God,” (Job 19:26).

Is It Unscriptural To Consult Physicians Or Take Drugs When We Are Sick As Some People Who Claim To Be Christians Do?

“Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no recovery for the health of the daughter of my people?” (Jer. 8:22).

“… And the leaf therefore for medicine,” (Ezek 47:12). “Luke the beloved physician” (Col. 4:14)
Read about: Hezekiah’s poultice of figs (Is. 38:21); Pool of Siloam (Jn. 9:7) Pool of Bethesda (Jn. 5:2-4); Anointing oil (James 5:14).
