Those were the guiding principles that helped Brother James Alley, while he was navigating through the herculean task of academic programme at the University of Benin.His commitment and dedication to Godpaid off whenhe came out with first class, breaking the university’s54-year-oldrecord.
Brother Alleynoted thatfrom the outset of his academic pursuit, he knew that with God all things are possible and that first class is achievable when a believer absolutely depends on God and simultaneously hard-working for his/her vision.
He said: “As a result, God helped me to graduate from the University of Benin, as the best graduating student in the Department of Petroleum Engineering, as well as, the best overall graduating student in the university with Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.98. This GPA has not been obtained by any graduating student for the past 54 years.”
Speaking further he said: “According to the Vice Chancellor of the university, when they saw my result, everybody was surprised that they had to go back and search for my academic records from my first year. They had to go through my scripts and GPA of the previous four years. By the grace of God, in my 100 Level, I came out with GPA of 4.951, my best performance was in the 400 level when I came out in flying colours with GPA of 5.0 and finally surpassing it with 4.98 in my degree examination results.”
Expressing his gratitude to God,Alley said the honour bestowed on him by God, made him to be popular in the school to the extent thatEdo State Government made him an Ambassador of Edo State Universal Education Board with the responsibility of projecting to the youth and entire world that education is not a scam, rather good performance that comes through hard work.
Alley’s recognition and popularitywent beyond his school and Edo State Government recognition to his hometown and, those who visited him rewardedfinancially.
